Eastern Timber Wolf

The Eastern Timber Wolf (Canis lupus lycaon )was the first subspecies of gray wolf to be reconized in the USA. It inhabits eastern portions of the US and southeastern parts of Canada. It will live in forest edges, swamp borders, boreal forests, and areas of feilds and woodlands. This subspecies is virtually extinct in the USA. The prey of this rare wolf is white-tail deer, moose, and beaver.
